  • If you were rich…

    If you were rich…

We all have our personal dreams about getting rich, perhaps by winning the lottery or maybe with the help of a generous benefactor. But have you ever thought about what would you do with all that money if you had it?

Being as rich as Richard Branson seems pretty cool.  You can hold parties for your airline and then hot chicks show up and you can pick them up and do whatever you want with them.

David Backham once gave his wife Victoria, a diamond necklace encrusted with over a hundred rubies worth a cool $1.2 million. Wow, yeah?

On the same Christmas Victoria Backham gave her hubby, David, a gleaming Rolls Royce Phantom. (Perhaps it was revenge! LOL)

Celebrities sometimes get their own shows that allow viewers to watch the celebrity go through his or her day. It can be quite intriguing to witness glamorous celebrity deal with the daily grind, like Britney, Ozzy Osborne, Paris Hilton.

The recent example is Virtual Wife (wanna look, try here), not a reality as we got used to talk about, but a video blog of the same kind.

Forget about receiving lumps of coal, when you are a celebrity you can give the most extravagant and at times the most ridiculous holiday gifts to your BF, spouse, or child.

    Ooh la la!

And here I am happy if I get flowers and chocolate!

What do you think? Are these gifts crazy or romantic?

  • Tiny Pieces of Art

     Tiny Pieces of Art

Willard Wigan is the creator of some of the world's smallest sculptures. The above scene is situated inside a sewing needle, it's a tribute to the Obama Family. Wigan takes months to complete a piece and works between heartbeats to avoid hand tremors. He uses a tiny surgical blade to carve his figures out of gold and grains of sand which are then mounted on pinheads. He uses a hair plucked from a dead fly to paint them (the fly has to have died from natural causes, as he refuses to kill them for his art).

Toothpick artist Steven Backman has carved this miniature replica of San Francisco's landmark, the Golden Gate Bridge. Measuring 1 7/8”(L) x 1/8”(W) x 3/4”(H), it was sculpted from one single toothpick and glue.

Who says you can't put a camel through the eye of a needle? Russian miniaturist Nikolai Aldunin has fit seven through this one. The artist works between the beats of his heart, in order to keep his hands perfectly still. He creates works of art so tiny that a microscope is needed to see them

The chilean sculptor Cristián Hernandez has made a career out of creating classic sculpture the size of a toothpick. Inspired in greek mythological themes, Hernandez uses a scalpel and other specialized tools to transform regular match sticks into amazing pieces of art.

  • Cheese Sculptures... Yammy!!!

     Cheese Sculptures... Yammy!!!

    whomovedmycheese

Artist Sarah Kaufmann created a life-size sculpture of astronaut Neil Armstrong made out of Wisconsin cheddar cheese. It was to go on display at the Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Unfortunately, the air conditioners at the museum are turned off every night to save energy, and the statue started melting and slid off of its base.
    Pity...But the art needs sacrifising...

  • Would you dare to repeat this?

Would you dare to repeat this?

29-year-old extreme balancing artist, Eskil Ronningsbakken has to be one of the world’s most amazing performers. His balancing career began when he was only five years old and he saw a yogin serenely balancing. Now he is one of the most famous extreme balancing artists in the world. His next dream is to perform his breathtaking stunts on top of the Burj al Arab Hotel, in Dubai.

Ronningsbakken has performed the most dangerous balancing acts We’ve ever seen, riding a bike upside down, balancing under a balloon in plain flight and on cliffs thousands of meters high. He says ‘That’s the balance between life and death, and that is where life is.’

  • Could Paper Craft Get Any Better

Could Paper Craft Get Any Bettern

Going through a paper craft exhibition in Tokyo, simply called ‘Castle on the Ocean’ exhibition, one thing that couldn’t escape an attendee’s attention is a piece of art by a Japanese paper craft genius going by the name Wataru Itou. From the piece of work – a complete city, with all the trappings like a electrical lights and even a train – one would be forgiven for thinking the creator is someone who has been in paper craft for decades.

Yet as it turns out, Itou is but ‘just’ a student of art at one of Tokyo’s university. Obviously, there lies a very promising student. Words alone cannot exactly capture the intensity of Itou’s creation. But looking at it, one is left wondering whether paper craft could ever get any better, or whether Itou’s work isn’t really as good as it can get; in other words ‘the ultimate.’

I’ve never seen anything like this and I don’t know that anyone has? I can foresee this becoming the new designer’s art-form of the future, except I’m afraid the skills needed to create such a work are probably far and few between.
